MUSTANGS FALL IN SECTIONAL TITLE GAME!

The 2nd seeded Mustangs gave top seed Stevenson all they could handle before falling to Stevenson 10-8 in the title game with a berth in the Elite 8 on the line.  The Mustangs defeated Vernon Hills and Libertyville to earn a 3rd shot at the Patriots who had defeated the Mustangs two previous times this season.  In a back and forth game, the Mustangs closed to 9-8 with a 1:30 left in the game before the Patriots scored on a uncontested goal as the Mustangs had pulled their goalie out of the cage to get the tying goal.

With the loss the Mustangs fell to 18-13 for the season, but continued their streak of winning seasons at 10.  Even with a brand new starting lineup after graduating last years starters, and playing one of the tougher schedules in the state, the Mustangs managed to turn around a season that found them starting out the season 0-3.

The Mustangs lose starting seniors Grant Gates and Aaron Slattery as well as senior reserves: Ian Sokoloski, Keith Falato, and Matt Juozitis, but return everyone else on the Varsity roster including 5 starters and the entire JV roster which were Conference Champions.
