5/14: MUNDELEIN FINISHES 3rd IN SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT
The Mundelein Mustangs Boys' Tennis Team finished it's season this past weekend at the Sectional Tennis Tournament held at Highland Park HS. Those representing Mundelein included Tyler Patner, Jeff DeGuia, Colin Moulton, Brian Santiago, Kevin Hetzel, and Phil Rosendahl. The Mustangs 3rd place finish (6 points) was a vast improvement over the 2006 result, with 0 points and a tie for 8th place. Unfortunately, none of the Mustangs were able to put together back-to-back wins on Friday, in order to advance to the semifinals and guarantee the school a representative in the State Tournament. Results Below:
1st Round:
Tyler Patner (Mund) def. Mark Niemyjski (Wheeling) 6-3, 6-1 (2 pts)
Connor Dimmick (Wauconda) def. Jeff DeGuia (Mund) 6-1, 7-6 (7-5)
Colin Moulton / Brian Santiago (Mund) def. Threats / Wilson (North Chicago) 6-0, 6-2 (2 pts)
Kevin Hetzel / Phil Rosendahl (Mund) def. Miller / Rodez (North Chicago) 6-2, 6-3 (2 pts)
2nd Round:
Josh Berman (Highland Park) def. Tyler Patner (Mund) 6-0, 6-1
Ampon / Gutman (Highland Park) def. Moulton / Santiago (Mund) 6-1, 6-3
Lewis / Woldenberg (Highland Park) def. Hetzel / Rosendahl (Mund) 6-0, 6-0
** The Highland Park Giants took out the three remaining MHS representatives in the 2nd round, as Lewis and Woldenberg advanced to the final and won the doubles portion of the Sectional.
I would like to take this time to thank the members of the MHS Boys Tennis Team for their hard work and dedication to this short but fun season. I am proud to be your coach, and to have won 15 matches in my first season with Mundelein was amazing! To all of the staff at MHS who supported us, a big thank you; and to the parents of Mustangs Boys Tennis: NONE of this season would have been possible without you. To have as many parents out at our matches and to be as vocal / active as you were is a testament to your student-athletes, our program, and our school. Thank you VERY MUCH, and I'm looking forward to working with your student-athletes in the future. "1-2-3, MUSTANGS!!!"
~Coach Warren
5/14: MUSTANGS DEFEAT GRANT IN FINAL DUAL OF SEASON, 3-2
The Mundelein Boys Tennis Team looked to go out in style in their last match vs. conference participant, the Grant Bulldogs. There were also a few line-up changes as the Mustangs felt they would mix things up a bit to possibly confuse their opponents who might have been expecting the usual line-up MHS had been putting on the courts the majority of the season. Per usual, freshman sensation Alex Golovin won in straight sets to run his season record to an astounding 25-3 to open his HS Tennis career. Senior Colin Moulton played singles for the first time this season after playing almost half of the 2006 season in this spot, and was successful in straight sets to continue Mundelein's dominance in singles for the '07 campaign. Two underclassmen paired up at first doubles, with Tyler Patner offering to play doubles in the final match of the season with impressive freshman Brian Santiago. #1 doubles was again a source of a point for the team as it took a few games for Patner and 'Santi' to get their games together, and eventually took care of their opponents in 2 sets. The result wasn't as good for the #2 and #3 doubles teams, but did take both of their matches to three sets (each winning the 2nd). The 'Stangs fell just short in each, dropping the last set 6-4; giving Grant their only 2 points of the match. Congratulations to all members of the Mustangs Boys Tennis Team for a great season.
NOW ON TO SECTIONALS!!!
Golovin, Patner, Moulton, Santiago, Kevin Hetzel, and Phil Rosendahl will represent MHS in the sectional competition being held this Friday / Saturday at Highland Park HS. Let's all cheer on these players as they will try to earn their way to the State Tennis Tournament the following weekend. (A semifinal appearance (2 wins) will earn a trip to the most important tournament of the season)
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mund) def. Alex Marginean (Grnt) 6-0, 6-1
2nd Singles: Colin Moulton (Mund) def. Clay Gunther (Grnt) 6-4, 6-2

The Mundelein Mustangs finished off their conference schedule and first major tournament of the post-season with a 6th place finish. The NSC powers of Stevenson, Warren, and Lake Forest seemed to pull away from the pack on day #2 and continued their run on Saturday as they left an 11.5 gap between 3rd place (Lake Forest) and 4th place (Libertyville). The Mustangs ended up having to play some tough competition along the way, but didn't roll over for anyone; giving some of the top teams & players a run for their money. Anyone who saw Mundelein play this season or this weekend in particular knows they are not afraid of anyone by name, seed, or school. Above all, this was a hotly contested tournament all three days with a few surprises along the way.
Mundelein HS would like to offer their thanks and congratulations to all players who competed and represented their school(s) in this tournament.

5/8: MUNDELEIN DROPS MATCH TO SECTIONAL FOE HIGHLAND PARK 6-1
Just 2 days before the NSC Tournament, the Mustangs took on one of the top teams in the area in Highland Park. Going into this match, the Mundelein Tennis Team knew they had nothing to lose and everything to gain from playing such an opponent before heading into it's conference tournament. The doubles teams of the Mustangs didn't fare too well as they went up against some very intense competition (including one of the teams who could by vying for a state title in Lewis / Woldenberg). On the singles side, Alex Golovin turned on the heat after a close and less-than flawless first set and took care of a hard-hitting Sam Barnett in straight sets to improve his record to 23-1. Tyler Patner not only had to battle his opponent, but had to fight off nausea and a very unstable base (wobbly legs). Patner eventually succumbed to Josh Berman, but not before being down 5-1 in the 2nd set, but able to bring it back to 5-3 before the ill feeling took over the 'Stangs #2, as he couldn't muster any more energy and lost the next game and the match.
The Mustangs will be at various sites on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as they battle for a Conference Title and spots in the Sectional / State tournaments coming up in the next couple weeks.
Check in tomorrow evening to see who, where, and what time the Mustangs will be playing!

5/7: MUSTANGS GET BACK ON WINNING TRACK BY DEFEATING PALATINE 6-1
It's nearing the end of the season and the Mustangs are trying to finish the season on a high. After playing quite a few tough matches in the last couple weeks, the 'Stangs were hungry to get back in the win column with some emphasis. Mission accomplished!! All the singles players for Mundelein rolled easily to victory, but the doubles teams spent much more time on the court; nearing almost 2.5 hours for the 1st and 4th teams. After dropping each of their first sets, the Mustangs' doubles teams looked dejected and deflated, but knew the matches weren't over because they had gone 3 sets before and could do it once again. Moulton / Santiago, Hetzel / Rosendahl, & Spedale / Tom all fought incredibly hard to get back into their matches to split sets. The third sets all saw the Mustangs going after every ball aggressively, taking control of the majority of points, and finishing in spots they were supposed to. With a mix of power, speed, and touch...this spelled the end for Palatine as Mundelein finished off all three third sets to finish the match 6-1.
Come check out the Mustangs tomorrow afternoon as they take on Sectional Foe Highland Park @ 4:30pm.
1st Singles: Alex Golvin (Mund) def. Milan Patel (Pal) 6-0, 6-0

Mundelein Record: 14-7-2
5/4: MUNEDELIN WINS MARATHON MATCH, BUT LOSES OVERALL TO LAKE FOREST ACADEMY 3-2
Now that the weather has been getting warmer and better overall, it looks like the Mustangs are trying to get in as much tennis as possible! Tyler Patner ended up playing a very long and tough 2nd singles match vs. LFA. Patner improved his overall record to 20-2, but it wasn't easy. He won the first set 6-0, but then his opponent played a bit tougher and was able to get to the net to win a few key points. With this plan, he ended up breaking Patner's serve to go up 5-4 and eventually won the set. After taking a break in between sets, Patner and Coach Warren devised a new gameplan which ended up working and finishing off his opponent in a dramatic 6-3 3rd set and a 3-set victory for the Sophomore.
Alex Golovin once again proved that he is a threat to some of the top players in the area (as a Freshman) defeating Andrew Duckworth in straight sets. The doubles teams didn't fare too well, but gave everything they had to make a couple of the matches close.
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mund) def. Andrew Duckworth (LFA) 6-2, 6-4
2nd Singles: Tyler Patner (Mund) def. Jose Franco (LFA) 6-0, 4-6, 6-3
1st Doubles: Jed Somers / Henry Davis (LFA) def. Colin Moulton / Brian Santiago (Mund) 6-0, 6-3
2nd Doubles: Anil Nair / Toby Davis (LFA) def. Kevin Hetzel / Phil Rosendahl (Mund) 6-0, 6-0
3rd Doubles: Will Hayes / Andrew Carlins (LFA) def. Jeff DeGuia / Pat Sala (Mund) 6-4, 6-2
5/3: MUSTANGS REBOUND FROM 2 STRAIGHT LOSSES, TAKE OUT LAKE ZURICH 3-2
It took a marathon match of 2 hours 37 minutes, for the Mustangs to secure the win versus the Lake Zurich Bears. Moulton / Santiago kept the tennis fans and their coach on an emotional rollercoaster the entire match. The duo ended up going ahead in each of the first two sets 5-2, to lose the lead and eventually lose the first set, but hold onto the second in a tiebreak. The third set was no different as they fell behind early 1-2, but stormed back to win the next 3 games and eventually the match. This secured the win for Mundelein as the match had been tied 2-2. Moulton / Santiago improve their record together to 14-6 on the season. The #2 and #3 Doubles teams just didn't have enough responses for what Lake Zurich was able to do, and fell in straight sets respectively. Golovin & Patner both rolled once again to assist in the win for the 'Stangs. An impressive singles season has improved Golovin's record to an astounding 20-1 and Patner to 19-2.
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mund) def. Eric Wolf (LZ) 6-0, 6-0
2nd Singles: Tyler Patner (Mund) def. Kevin Miehlke (LZ) 6-1, 6-1

3rd Doubles: Tyler Miller / Danny Burns (LZ) def. Jeff DeGuia / Pat Sala (Mund) 6-1, 6-3
Mundelein Record: 13-6-2
5/2: STEVENSON DEFEATS MUNDELEIN 4-1 IN BLUSTERY CONDITIONS
Spring has sprung another twist into the Mustangs plans for 2007. Weather once again reaked havoc on the tennis world, as the Mustangs couldn't overcome a fierce Patriots team and mother nature's wind at the same time. Alex Golovin was the only member of the Mustangs able to overcome these conditions, and pull out a straight set win over Allen Pukshansky. The rest of the team put forth whatever they had, didn't end up in the win column, but are looking forward to tomorrow's match with the Bears of Lake Zurich.
Come out tomorrow, @ 4:30 to watch the Mustangs try to tame the Bears.
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mund) def. Allen Pukshansky (Stev) 6-3, 7-5
2nd Singles: Richard Brej (Stev) def. Tyler Patner (Mund) 6-0, 6-0

5/1: MUSTANGS DROP CLOSE CONFERENCE MATCH TO LIBERTYVILLE 3-2
Another day, another tough match for the Mustangs. The Tennis version of the Mustangs keep raising their games as the season moves along, but they keep running into some hot players as well. Jeff DeGuia and Ben Nelson played the match of the day, going over 2 hours, and playing 3 very tight sets. DeGuia finished the 1st set on an ACE, and kept the #2 team from Libertyville on their heels with his serving, while Nelson was just as hot on serve and wouldn't lay down or play dead when they dropped the 2nd set (6-3). The third frame was too much for the Mustangs, as Libertyville toughed it out and won 6-4 with the both teams looking on with anticipation. Hetzel / Rosendahl put up a great fight, although the score doesn't dictate, with one game going to 9 deuces. Golovin and Patner powered the winning end for the 'Stangs, winning easily in straight sets.
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mund) def. Erik Scanlan (Lib) 6-1, 6-0
2nd Singles: Tyler Patner (Mund) def. Dean Leventis (Lib) 6-0, 6-0
1st Doubles: Anish Raman / Vivak Raman (Lib) def. Colin Moulton / Brian Santiago (Mund) 6-0, 6-3
2nd Doubles: Chris Lou / Taylor Kraemer (Lib) def. Kevin Hetzel / Phil Rosendahl (Mund) 6-2, 6-4
3rd Doubles: Alex Buss / Jay Schneider (Lib) def. Jeff DeGuia / Ben Nelson (Mund) 2-6, 6-3, 6-4
Mundelein Record: 12-5-2
4/28: MUSTANGS GO 2-0-1 IN FINAL QUAD OF SEASON
As the Mustangs look toward their respective Conference and Sectional Tournaments, they had one more weekend task sitting in their way...the Carmel Quad. In their final weekend action before the postseason, the Mustangs pulled out two victories and one tie to finish the day 2-0-1 (Not too bad, for a day's work!) Singles play definitely didn't seem to be the problem for Mundelein, as they finished the day an impressive 7-0 with efforts from Golovin, Patner, and sophomore Ben Nelson. Amazingly enough, the wins for Golovin and Patner improved their individual records each to 17-1. (That's a combined 34-2 with 6 matches still to go!!!)
On the doubles side, a shake-up in the usual line-up might have been to the benefit of the Mustangs. Moulton & Santiago continued to play tough at #1, going 2-1 on the day; losing their only match to a tough (2006) state qualifying team of Buchholz / Butler from Carmel. The shake-up came at 2 and 3 doubles, with Phil Rosendahl and Kevin Hetzel taking over the #2 spot, while Jeff DeGuia and Pat Sala played in the #3 spot. This switch seemed to benefit both teams, allowing them to do what they do best and feel more comfortable doing so. The #2 team finished 2-1 on the day, losing 7-5, 6-3 to Carmel and the #3's came out on the short end of two (3rd-set) tiebreaks. It only takes a few points to make a difference in that much shortened set, and this time, the Mustangs fell short twice, while winning a 2nd set tiebreak to finish off McHenry.
Look for the Mustangs to play tough, as they take on some fierce competition this week:

4/24: MUNDELEIN LOSES A HEARTBREAKER TO WARREN 3-2
The North Suburban Conference Schedule has heated up and is in full swing starting today with the Mustangs' match with the Blue Devils from Warren HS. The match of the day had to be the 1st Doubles match, which lasted over 2 hours and came down to a very tight and hotly contested third set. Moulton / Santiago won the first set 7-5, but got broken twice in each of the final two sets to end up falling short 3-6, 3-6 in those final two frames. 2nd & 3rd Doubles gave everything they had, but just couldn't muster enough fire-power to overtake the Blue Devils.
In singles, both Golovin and Patner continue to impress, improving their respective records to 14-1 on the season. Just over the halfway point, the Mustangs are starting to look forward to the Conference Tournament, and could be looking at some high seeds entering the event (1st Singles / 2nd Singles / 1st Doubles).

This was a morning and early afternoon filled with some exciting tennis. The temperatures continued to rise, as did the games of the big 3 of the Mustangs! Alex Golovin, Tyler Patner, & the team of Colin Moulton / Brian Santiago went undefeated to help the mustangs go 3-0 (as a team) in their home quad for the 2007 season. Kudos also to the teams of DeGuia / Hetzel and Sala / Rosendahl for contributing key wins along the way to assist in the team's success.
This now improves the Boys' Tennis record to 10-3-1, ONLY 2 WINS SHY OF LAST SEASON!
Keep playing hard, MUSTANGS!

4/20: MUNDELEIN SQUEAKS BY WOODSTOCK, 3-2
To say the Mustangs weren't hurt by their loss to Lake Forest, would be false. The Boys Tennis Team had something to prove today against a young, but relatively talented Woodstock team. The #1 Doubles team of Moulton/Santiago continued to impress, despite getting behind early. This duo improved their record together to an impressive 8-2. Both the #2 and #3 doubles teams were in their matches from the get-go. DeGuia/Hetzel were mere points away from taking control in both sets, but just couldn't put together the shots needed to get the momentum to flow their way; while Sala/Nelson fought hard and put almost every ball in play, to only have the ball come back just one more time to allow the Woodstock players to take over.
On the Singles side, both Golovin & Patner improved their records to 10-1 with straight set wins, and are gearing up for what could very well be the toughest part of their schedule coming up these next few weeks.

4/19: MUNDELEIN LOSES TOUGH MATCH TO FIESTY LAKE FOREST TEAM, 5-0
Although the scoreboard says the Mustangs Tennis Team didn't play well, the play on this windy day was very much the contrary. Although losing 5-0 to the Lake Forest Scouts, several of the matches were very hotly contested. The #1 Doubles match lasted nearly 2 hours, as Moulton / Santiago fought back from dropping the first set, took a 5-0 lead in the 2nd; scuffled a bit but eventually pulled out set #2. The third set was back and forth for nearly 30 minutes, until the Scouts were able to break Moulton to win the match. Tyler Patner and Alex Golovin had to put hundreds of balls in play, but ended up falling short in both their matches. This results in both players suffering their first loss of the season. 2nd and 3rd Doubles was also very well played, but Lake Forest seemed to always put one more ball into play when it mattered most. Good work Mustangs! Keep up the hard work!

4/17: MUSTANGS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN (5-0 OVER ZION-BENTON)
The weather continues to reek havoc on the tennis season, but it doesn't seem to slow down the Mustangs Tennis Team. After a tough loss to Lakes, the Mustangs are back in the win column after taking down Zion-Benton, 5-0. Alex Golovin's streak of not losing a game is now over, but he and Tyler Patner both remain undefeated at 9-0, which is tough to do...so, congrats to both of them!
Moulton & Santiago were back on the court together after a day layoff, and went right back to winning...improving their record together to 7-1. Hetzel / DeGuia and Nelson / Spedale continue to improve, winning both doubles matches in straight sets. Doubles will be key for the Mustangs to be successful down the road and through their conference schedule.
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mundelein) def. Seven Burkett (Zion-Benton) 6-1, 6-1
2nd Singles: Tyler Patner (Mundelein) def. Tom Jurijczuk (Zion-Benton) 6-0, 6-1

Mustangs Record 6-2-1
4/14: MUSTANGS FALL TO TOUGH EAGLES TEAM 3-2
Mundelein loses its second match in three days to a tough Lakes Community team that came out fast and didn't want to let up. The Mustangs didn't have enough fire-power in the doubles matches to keep up with the Eagles, but the singles were still hot as ever. Mundelein's top player from last year, Tyler Patner (now playing #2 singles) is putting together some stellar numbers along with his counterpart Alex Golovin. Patner has compiled an 8-0 record through the first third of the season, and is halfway to his total from last season (16). If he and Golovin continue on this pace, they may be a threat in the postseason tournaments!
The doubles teams of the Mustangs weren't clicking today, but put up tough fights with a key player out of the line-up. Colin Moulton missed his first match due to a nagging injury (after starting the season 6-1 w/Brian Santiago), but Santiago & DeGuia didn't want to let that stop them against a top-caliber team like Scupham/Shea. They (Santiago/DeGuia) played them tough, but ended up falling in straight sets. The 2nd and 3rd doubles teams mustered some energy midway through the 2nd sets, but couldn't put enough points together to come out on top. The team will look to bounce back tomorrow against Zion-Benton.
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mundelein) def. Andrew Yopp (Lakes) 6-0, 6-0
2nd Singles: Tyler Patner (Mundelein) def. Randall Haylock (Lakes) 6-1, 6-0

2nd Doubles: Timmy David / John Dudley (Lakes) def. Kevin Hetzel / Pat Sala (Mundelein) 6-2, 6-3
3rd Doubles: Nathan David / Andre Skula (Lakes) def. Ben Nelson / Joe Spedale (Mundelein) 6-1, 6-4
Mundelein Record: 5-2-1
4/14: MUNDELEIN SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF SEASON IN TIGHT MATCH WITH WHEELING WILDCATS AT WHEELING INVITE
Mundelein traveled to Wheeling HS for the Wheeling Invite, and finishes the day 2-1, a 2nd place team finish,
and 5 medalists.
Special Note: Alex Golovin remains unblemished on season!
This was a very difficult day for the Mustangs as they found out early on the were definitely vulnerable to a loss and some pain along the way. The Wildcats (Wheeling) and Mustangs tangled in the first round of the Invite, and this proved to be a very hard-fought match from both sides. At singles, Golovin and Patner rolled with easy 2-set victories, while Ben Nelson (his first singles action of the season) suffered a loss in a 3rd set tiebreak. Nelson started out of the gate quickly, but couldn't maintain the pace through the remainder of the match, but fought to stay in the tiebreak just falling short (10-7).
At doubles: Moulton and Santiago again started quickly, but struggled in the 2nd set when Moulton reported lower back pain. Thus, making it very hard for him to move on the court. This hurt the #1 team, and forced both players to play 'out of their element' to try and 'hang on' for their tennis lives. The pain was too much for Moulton and Santiago to overcome, as they split sets and suffered a 10-7 loss in the 3rd set tiebreak. Hetzel and DeGuia faced a hard-hitting team from Wheeling and couldn't harness the power enough to pull out the win, but tried throwing everything including the 'kitchen sink' at this team, but didn't seem to have the right affect.
Match #1:
Wheeling 3, Mundelein 2
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mund.) def. Marek Niemyjski (Wheeling) 6-0, 6-0
2nd Singles: Tyler Patner (Mund.) def. Kent Kuhnle (Wheeling) 6-0, 6-1

1st Doubles: Alex Cohen / Dan Raiff (Wheeling) def. Colin Moulton / Brian Santiago (Mund.) 0-6, 6-2, (10-7)
2nd Doubles: Joe Franz / Brandon Makhzani (Wheeling) def. Kevin Hetzel / Jeff DeGuia (Mund.) 6-2, 6-2
After the Mustangs took a deep breath and recovered from their first loss of the season, they came out firing on all cylinders agains Riverside Brookfield. Golovin, Patner, and Nelson all won in straight sets, with Nelson's being the closest at 6-4, 7-5. Senior Colin Moulton made a trip to the training room to get some treatment for his back, and Jeff DeGuia also made a trip to get his ankle taped after rolling it late in his first match. The weakened players returned and took their frustrations out on their opponents. The number 1 duo of Moulton & Santiago won in straight sets to get back on the winning track, but DeGuia & Hetzel fell short in a 3rd set tiebreak after splitting 2 very well-played sets! This was by far Hetzel and DeGuia's best match of the season although they fell just short.

Mustangs finish day with convincing 5-0 win vs. Addison Trail. Alex Golovin didn't get a chance to get on the court for a third time, but won by default due to number of players available. Patner and Nelson both rolled in singles, while the doubles teams finished off their opponents rather convincingly (6-0, 6-0) & (6-0, 6-3) respectively

4/10: MUNDELEIN CONTINUES TO OPEN SEASON WITH POSITIVE RESULTS
MUNDELEIN 5 - WAUCONDA 0
The cold weather doesn't seem to stop the Mundelein Boys Tennis Team from getting out on the courts and taking care of business. Although windy and slightly cooler than previous matches, the Mustangs came out with a fire in their eyes wanting to continue their hot play to open the season. Alex Golovin is absolutely on fire, and continues to finish his matches without a blemish on the other side of the score. Another 6-0, 6-0 straight set win, combined with the efforts of sophomore Tyler Patner, he continues to have early success at the singles ranks and make for a tough two-some to overcome at the top of the line-up. On the doubles side, the Mustangs continue to show improvement, proving they can start slow and make up ground as the match goes along. Moulton & Santiago built their record to 4-0 on the '07 campaign, while Nelson & Sala got into the win column with a nice 6-0, 6-4 showing on court 3. The match of the day came from 2nd Doubles (DeGuia & Hetzel); dropping the first set after fighting and clawing to stay in it. These two battled back to gain some momentum and turn on the offense at the outset of the 2nd set and didn't let up until they came away with the 3-set victory.
1st Singles: Alex Golovin (Mundelein) def. Kristian Kampendahl (Wauconda) 6-0, 6-0

4th Doubles: Riaz Hoveydai / Shaun Fernandes (Vernon Hills) def. Austin Tom / Joe Spedale (Mundelein) 6-2, 6-2
The Boys Tennis team faced their first tight match of the season today against Vernon Hills. After beginning the season 2-0, the Mustangs were frozen out of two matches the previous week and started a bit cold against their nearby foe. The 1st Doubles team of Moulton & Santiago didn't come out of the gate until late into the first set, when they were down 4-1, and then 5-2, but then rattled off five straight games to take the first set 7-5. The duo heated up, and continued to roll through the 2nd set 6-1; improving their early-season record to 3-0. The cold didn't seem to bother Golovin and Patner as both singles players continued their hot play & winning ways, finishing off their respective opponents in rather convincing straight set wins (6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively). The 2nd, 3rd and 4th Doubles teams didn't fare as well, but fought back from slow starts in their first sets to make each of their matches competetive and exciting right up until the last point. The Mustangs will look to continue the winning streak tomorrow afternoon, HOME vs. Wauconda (4:30 start).
Mundelein Record: 2-0-1

3rd Doubles: Austin Tom / Joe Spedale (Mundelein) def. Josh Mass / Mark Mujuski (RL) 6-2, 6-2
After only 2 matches, the Mundelein Mustangs are already at 2 wins (ahead of last year's pace). The Mustangs didn't win their 2nd match of the 2006 season until match number 6, and are looking forward to a very successful season, and maybe surprising a few people along the way.
Both singles players; Alex Golovin (Fr.) and Tyler Patner (So.) have yet to drop a game after winning both their matches in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. The first doubles team of Colin Moulton (Sr.) and Brian Santiago (Fr.) aren't far behind. This duo has dropped only one game en route to an early 2-0 start to their new partnership! The rest of the team is starting to fall into place, and hopefully will continue to improve and continue their winning ways.
