SCRAMBLING STANGS MISS ADVANCING BY ONLY 9 STROKES

BEST GOLF SEASON EVER ENDS ONE STEP SHORT OF STATE
The most successful boys golf team in MHS history was stopped in sectionals on Monday, but not after writing their names over and over into the school record books. The team was the first sectional qualifier and the first NSC-Lake division champion. This year's Stangs posted the program's highest overall winning percentage at .803 and won more tournaments (3) than in any prior year. Special thanks go to seniors Johnny Pierpont, Phil Senour, Jack Walliser, and Justin Wirt whose hard work and great performances during their MHS careers elevated MHS Boys Golf to new heights.

In a year of many firsts, the Mustangs stepped into the thick fog blanketing Steeple Chase sporting all black gear for the 1st time this season, and emerged from Tuesday's regional tournament with the school's first team advancement to sectionals in history. The Stangs fired a team record score of 298 for a par 72 course, propelling MHS to 2nd place overall in a regional where the top 3 teams move forward. The Mustangs' John Pierpont picked the right day to fire his best 18-hole round of the year as the senior star ripped off 6 birdies to finish with a 2-under par 70. When 75s came in from Pat McGrath and Phil Senour along with Ben Schroeder's 78, MHS punched its ticket to the sectional. Andrew Adamsick and Jack Walliser helped support the Mustangs best day in boys golf history.

DIVISION CHAMPS!

SURPRISE! STANGS WIN TIE-BREAKER FOR DIVISION CROWN! NOW...ON TO REGIONALS NEXT WEEK!
On Tuesday, the Mustangs officially found out the 5-team tiebreaker for the NSC-Lake Division Championship fell to MHS! It is the 1st time the Stangs have ever won the division title. The annoucement came during the NSC Conference Tourney at Midlane Country Club where things didn't go as well for the 5th place Stangs. Earning All-Conference honors on a difficult scoring day were senior Phil Senour, and juniors Pat McGrath and Ben Schroeder.

PIERPONT & SCHROEDER TIE FOR LOW-SCORE HONORS BUT...

MUSTANGS LOSE TO PATS BY 1 STROKE. COMING UP: THE MAIN EVENTS! NSC CHAMPIONSHIP ON TUESDAY AND 1 WEEK LATER...THE REGIONAL TOURNEY @ STEEPLE CHASE!
While it would have been a nice feather in the Mustangs cap, the NSC-Lake Division title slipped just out of the Stangs reach against Stevenson on Thursday night by a score of 159-160 at the Arboretum. Johnny Pierpont and Ben Schroeder each shot 39 to tie for 1st place medalist honors with 2 Pats while Phil Senour was just 1 stroke back with a 40 followed by Jack Walliser and Andrew Adamsick with 42s.

Now the Stangs turn their focus to the conference championship next Tuesday at Midlane followed by the state regional tourney on Oct. 2nd at Steeple Chase.

ADAMSICK'S 37 TO HELP MHS TAKE NAILBITER!

TIEBREAKING 5th SCORE GIVES MUSTANGS THE WIN OVER LAKE ZURICH TO SET UP NSC-LAKE TITLE MATCH VS. PATS!
When the top 4 scores were totalled for both the Mustangs and the Bears, the match was tied at 152. So the crucial, tie-breaking 5th scores came into play. The Stangs top 5 scores were a 37 from Andrew Adamsick, 38s from Jack Walliser and Justin Wirt, and 39s from Phil Senour and Ben Schroeder. The 5th score from Lake Zurich was a 40 -- 1 stroke higher than the victorious Mustangs.

The win moved MHS a half-game ahead of idle Stevenson and Lake Forest in the NSC-Lake. The Stangs can clinch the division title with a win over the Patriots on Thursday at Stevenson's home course, the Arboretum.

WIRT & SENOUR PAIR UP TO LIFT MHS TO WIN

STANGS BREEZE TO WINDY WIN OVER WARREN 157-164!
With 30 mph winds whipping around Steeple Chase, the Mustangs had to go into grinder mode against Warren. And while it may not have been the most spectacular golf ever played, it resulted in a gutsy 7 stroke MHS win. The Stangs showed their depth once again with Justin Wirt carding a medalist winning 38, immediately followed by Phil Senour's 39, and right behind were 4 Mustangs at 40: John Edwards, John Pierpont, Andrew Adamsick, and Ben Schroeder. The win raised the Stangs division record to 3-0. Another arch-rival visits Steeple Chase on Friday: Libertyville.

STREAKING STANGS STORM PAST THE NILES SCHOOLS!
The weather was rainy, windy, and cold but the Mustangs stayed hot, hot, and hot as they beat Niles West by 33 strokes and Niles North by 64 strokes. Jack Wallister finished first with an astonishing 38 considering the brutal conditions. NSC-Lake play resumes on Tuesday against Warren.

FIVE STANGS FIRE 38 AND UNDER!

HISTORIC STAMPEDE!

MUSTANGS STEP UP TO BEAT LAKE FOREST FOR 1st TIME IN SCHOOL'S 46 YEAR HISTORY.
Coach Todd Parola said that the record books don't show MHS golfers ever beating Lake Forest in head-to-head competition. That all changed Tuesday night as the Mustangs came in on a mission and accomplished it with a decisive 148-159 victory over the Scouts. The Stangs received even-par 36 performances from medalists Ben Schroeder and John Pierpont, along with a trio of 38s from Justin Wirt, Andrew Adamsick, and Pat McGrath. The win raised the Mustangs record in the NSC-Lake to 2-0.

SCHROEDER SHOOTS BACK-TO-BACK SUB-PARS!

REPEAT PERFORMANCE AS MHS FIRES 151 AGAIN AND ROUTS ZEE-BEES BY 26 STROKES IN NSC-LAKE OPENER.
The Mustangs came out firing for the 2nd straight afternoon posting a 151 total at Steeple Chase. That was 26 strokes better than Zion-Benton as MHS won the NSC-Lake opening match. Junior Ben Schroeder repeated his medalist role by shooting a 1-under 35 followed by senior John Pierpont's 38 while 39's by juniors Andrew Adamsick and Pat McGrath capped the Mustang scoring. MHS gets 4 days off before next Tuesday's key match against perennial power Lake Forest at Steeple Chase.

COLD FRONT BLOWS IN, HOT STANGS BLOW OUT GRAYSLAKE & WAUCONDA IN HOME OPENER! NEXT: NSC-LAKE OPENER.
Halfway through Wednesday's home opening match against Wauconda and Grayslake North, a cold front came through Steeple Chase dropping the temp about 10 degrees in a minute while the wind gusts picked up to over 20 mph. But the weather change didn't stop the Mustangs from charging through to a 27 stroke win over the Knights and 39 better than the Bulldogs. MHS got its first under-par round of the season from medalist Ben Schroeder who posted a bogey-free 35. John Pierpont popped in a 1-over 37, while Phil Senour turned in a 39. Jack Walliser and Andrew Adamsick came through with 40s. Junior Pat McGrath made his varsity debut with a solid 41. Justin Wirt filled out the Mustang scorecard with a 45. Next up is Zion-Benton on Thursday - the start of the NSC-Lake schedule.
