Most Valuable Player vs Lake Zurich is Michael Petlak who was 5 for 10 vs the best defense in the North Suburban Lake Division. Michael also rushed the ball 7 times in the game as well netting over 50 yards of total offense. Pretty respectful since Lake Zurich has 8 Players on the all conference team on defense.

Most Valuable Offensive Player vs Lake Zurich is Jamell Ross who rushed for 25 times for 56 yards against the best defense in the league. Jamell was well respected from Lake Zurich as the did not kick to him one the entire night on kickoff return.

Most Valuable Defensive Player vs Lake Zurich is Anthony Gianaras who lead the team with 7 tackles and 1 for a 4 yard loss. Anthony also caught a pass for 11 yards on offense as well.

MUSTANGS 43 - ZION-BENTON 19
The Most Valuable Offensive Player for the Zion-Benton game is Cody Gokan. Cody in his first game back score 2 touchdowns and was very big part in blocking for Jamell Ross who rushed for 103 yards. Cody blocking style provided some big hole. On defensive Cody had 2 interceptions as well.

The Most Valuable Defensive Player of the game is Aaron Metzger who had 2 interceptions, one being returned for a touchdown. The Touchdown return was of 43 yards and broke open a close ball game where the Mustangs rolled up 43 points and holding the passing offense of 5 of Zion-Benton wide to just 19 points.

The Most Valuable Player of the game was Brian Arnold who rushed for 86 yards on 13 carries and scored 2 touchdowns. Brian on defense tied with 2 teammates in recording 5 tackles on the night. Brian also, had 2 interceptions as well. Brian's both interceptions lead to scores giving the Mustang the much needed 43-19 victory. Way to go Brian.

The Defensive MVP against Warren is Tyler Kennedy who had a interception and return of 39 yards and was credited for 5 tackles. Tyler's interception brings his total to 3 on the year - 3 away from tying the schools record.

The Offensive MVP against Warren is Jamell Ross who netted 100 yards on the first 2 plays of the game - A 41 yard kickoff return and a 59 yard Touchdown run and he added another TD from 6 yards out. Jamell rushed the ball 22 times for 143 yards, bring his total to 100 carries for 574 yards which is an average of 5.74 yards per carry.

The Special Teams Player of the Week against Warren is Jamell Ross who started the game with a kickoff return for 41 yards. Jamell had 2 others kickoff he returned giving him a net total 62 yards.

Most Valuable Player of the Game is Kurt Mellor who had 5 tackles one of those tackles were for a 2 yard loss. Kurt also played Center on the offensive line and was the driving force on why Jamell Ross rushed for 143 yards. Kurt is also the long snapper on punts and extra-points. Good Job Kurt.

Offensive MVP is Mike Petlak who was 6-9 in passing giving him the Mundelein High School single season record for best completion percentage for a season. Mike has a 57% passing completion. Congrats Mike!

Defensive MVP is Alan Cuna - Alan tied a Mundelein High School with tackles for a loss during a season. Alan had 4 tackles for loss netting 21 yards bringing Alan total to 11 on the year. Alan is tied with Adrian Harry with 3 games left in the regular season. Good Luck Alan

MVP of the game Eric Rausch 2 way starter this week. Eric had 10 tackles on defense and did a great job blocking on offense. Eric has been the Mustangs go to guy this season when it comes to passing unfortunately against Libertyville Eric was a decoy most of the evening and did not even have a pass thrown his way. Eric batted 3 passes away and a hit that jarred the ball away from the defender. Congrats Eric - keep up the good work.

Special Teams Player of the game goes to Bobby Burnicks who had a field goal of 27 yards and 2 extra-points and handled several bad snaps on the punt. Way to go Bobby!

Special Teams Players of the Week - Cameron Kinder and John Pini who selflessly gave their body during the week of preparation as the 2 emulated the blitz packages of Libertyville. Because of their effort - Mike Petlak was able to complete 67% of his passes for the game. Way to go you two.!

WADE LEPPERT:
2007 graduate Wade Leppert will dress for the Iowa Hawkeyes Football team as they play host to the Indiana Hoosiers Saturday, September 29. Wade was a four year starter for the Mustangs and walked on to the University Iowa's Football team. As a freshman Wade and will dress in Iowa's second home game of the season. Obviously Wade has made a positive impact on the Hawkeye Football program for Coach Kirk Ferentz to have a freshman dress so early in the season. Way to go Wade! Wade joins Mundelein's Coach and Teacher Reed Christensen's cousin Jake, who is also the starting QB for the Hawkeyes. Jake is a 2005 graduate from Lockport High School.

The Offensive MVP is Jamell Ross who rushed for 77 yards on 14 carries for a 5.5 yards per carry. Jamell also scored a touchdown as well.

The MVP Player of the game was Kevin Joy who had 22 tackles and a interception. There is no stat record for tackles per game, and if there was Kevin would be certainly a strong candidate for the record.

Special Teams Player of the Week is Michael Petlak who ran in a 2 point conversation after avoiding a strong rush from the Linebackers of Stevenson.

Defensive MVP was Alan Cuna who had 11 tackles - 3 for loss of total nine yards. Alan also force 2 passes earning him Defensive MVP Player of the Week.

Offensive MVP is Michael Petlak who was 8 for 13 for 82 yards. He just missed connecting with Eric Rausch and Mike Gerton on 2 TD's. Michael rushed for Mustangs only score from 10 yards out.

Special Teams Player of the week is Bobby Burnicks who after having 1 punt blocked made a great play avoiding a 2nd block. Bobby also had 2 kickoffs that resulted inside the Lake Forest 35 yard line and made his only xtra-point on the day.

Game MVP is Jamell Ross who rushed the ball 12 times for 71 yards - 5.9 yards per carry. Jamell also had 59 yard kickoff return that led the only score of the day for the Mustangs.

Most Valuable Offensive Player is the starting Offensive Lineman- Joe Semple, right tackle; Kellor Devanie, right guard; Kurt Mellor, center; Steven Avalos, left guard; Sean Santiago, left tackle. These guys efforts upfront were a big reason MHS jumped out to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter.

Most Valuable Defensive Player is Adam Avalos. Adam had a big interception that the Mustangs were able to convert it into a touchdown taking a commanding 21- 0 lead. Adam also had 1 solo tackle and 4 assisted tackles.

Special Teams Most Valuable is John Pini who had 5 tackles on kickoff team 2 of those tackles were inside the Round Lake 25 yard line. John is a back-up safety and in the game he registered 3 tackles and 3 assited tackles.

Most Valuable Player of the Game vs Round Lake is Tyler Kennedy. Tyler had big game where he intercepted a pass on Round Lakes 2nd possesion of the game. The Mustangs where able to convert the turnover to a TD 3 plays later. After and Adam Avalos intereception, Tyler caught a pass of 37 yard touchdown pass from Mike Petlak 1 play later. And after Round Lakes only score of the half, Tyler returned the kickoff 57 yards and resulted in a Mike Matranga 1 yard TD run.

Most Valuable Offensive Player vs. Waukegan is Eric Rausch - 3 receptions for 62 yards all three were good for first downs and Eric's longest reception of 36 yards start the game for the Mustangs.

Most Valuable Defensive Player vs. Waukegan Kevin Joy had 5 tackles in the game. 4 solo and 1 assist. Kevin had a key intereception inside the red zone to stop a scoring drive.

Most Valuable Special Teams Player - Adam Avalos who had two TD saving tackles on both kickoffs.

Most Valuable Player of the Game goes to Cody Gokan, Gokan did not come off the field the entire game except on Kickoff & Kickoff return. Cody was a big reason the Mustangs piled up over 190 yards on the ground. Cody also ran the ball for a 9 yard carry, and had a 9 yard pass reception.

On Defense, Cody had 5 solo tackles and 4 assist. Cody also hurried the QB two x's on resulting in an interception by Zach Adams.

Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Game - # 5 Tyler Kennedy: 2 solo tackles and 4 assist. 1 knock down of a BG pass attempt and a key interception late in the game to secure victory for the Mustangs - Way to go Tyler.

Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Game - Danny Katz: back-up FullBack came in for an injured Brian Arnold and rushed the ball for 51 yards on 9 carries. Most importantly, Dan had 3 first downs late in the fourth quarter to keep BG'S offense off the field. Nice job Dan!

Most Valuable Special Team Player of the Game - #1 Senior Kicker Bobby Burnicks: Bobby averages 30 yards on 5 punts, was 2 for 2 in the extra-point category, but mostly Bobby's kickoffs pinned Buffalo Grove inside their 18 twice and gave Mundelein good field position all day! Nice Job!

MHS Most Valuable Player of the Game vs. Buffalo Grove: #9 Anthony Gianaras with one of his 3 solo tackles 2 were for loss of 6 combined yards. Anthony also had 8 assisted tackles, 1 tip pass and force the QB to run out of the pocket 6 other times. Anthony also had a 19-yard recption leading to the Mustangs 1st score of the season. RED TEAM WINS 14-7
Red Team wins 14-7 in the annual Red - Gray scrimmage held last Friday night. Cody Gokan and Mike Matranga, both had big games for the Red's offensive team while Jaml Ross had a couple of nice kick off returns and Tyler Kennedy had a great intereception with an awesome return of 45 yards after the interception. Aaron Metzger had big runs for the gray team as well.

Please come out and support your Mustangs has they try to revenge a 45-20 loss at the hands of the Buffalo Grove Bisons last season. Game time 5 pm for Sophomores and 7:30 kickoff for the Varsity. The young freshman kickoff at 9 am on Saturday for both the A and B teams. All games are here at MHS.

RED & GRAY GAME: AUGUST 17
Meet the 2007 Mustangs Football teams this Friday, August 17th at 7 pm in the bleachers of the stadium.

Come hear about the program and the expectations as well as hear the Code of Conduct, plus meet the coaches and the 2007 Varsity Captains. Friday is picture day, please don't forget to send your order forms in with your student-athlete as well.

Following this brief meeting, get a glimpse of the 2007 Varsity Football team as they scrimmage in the annual Red & Gray scrimmage starting at 7:30 pm.

Following the game, parents are invited to come down on the field to take pictures of your favorite student-athlete(s). We would like to wrap up at about 8:30 with the scrimmage, and conclude with pictures around 9 pm. Please join us for an exciting evening.

The Mustangs rallied from behind to grab a 23-17 lead in the 4th quarter but MW replied with a late TD of their own.  MHS blocked the extra point kick to keep it tied at 23-23. A last second attempt by MHS at a long FG in reulation fell just short .
MW scored a TD and extra point kick in OT. MHS answered with a TD of its own but fell short on the 2 pt conversion run.

The Mustangs defense shutouts L'Ville in 2nd half after giving up 22 points in 1st half. MHS offense never solves Wildcat defense but passing game shows life at end of game.

The state-ranked Blue Devils handled the Mustangs under the lights in Gurnee by scoring 22 pts. in the 2nd quarter and coasting in.

For the 2nd straight year, MHS rocked Lake Forest - this time the Mustangs won 41-27 to rain on the Scouts' Homecoming Game. The 'Stangs pushed out to a 34-7 lead and coasted in. The win snapped a 5 game losing streak for MHS. Wade Leppert scored 3 TDs and rushed for 220 yards.
