TECHNICAL THEATRE
Open To: Grades 9-12 Prerequisite: None
Length: 2 terms Credits: 1.0

Technical Theatre is designed to introduce students to the basic elements of theatre production and design.  Students will study theatre terminology, set design and construction, scene painting, stage lighting, sound, costuming, props and make-up. Students will complete units on theatre history and dramatic structure as it pertains to technical theatre. Students will have the opportunity to apply these skills to stage productions at Mundelein High School.


THEATRE 1
Open To: Grades 9-12 Prerequisite: None
Length: 2 terms Credits: 1.0

This course is designed as an introduction to the basics of theatre.  Students will explore the elements of drama through improvisation, theatre games, vocal technique and acting fundamentals. Students will perform dramatic and comedic scenes, as well as monologues from contemporary plays. In order to provide a well-rounded theatre education, students will also study theatre history, theatre terminology, dramatic structure and script analysis.


THEATRE 2
Open To: Grades 9-12 Prerequisite: Theatre 1 and Teacher Consent
Length: 2 terms Credits: 1.0

This course is an in-depth, multi-leveled study of skills and techniques introduced in Theatre 1. Studies will be customized and topics will vary to accommodate students. Topics may include advanced acting techniques, stage combat, contemporary Broadway, Shakespeare, vocal technique, dialects, advanced improvisation and musical theatre. Beginning concepts in directing will also be introduced.
