Mundelein High School - Fine Arts

The Mundelein Sound is an award winning and experienced group of male and female students who have established themselves as one of the top choral groups of its kind in the Midwest. The Mundelein Lights is a newer group of talented female students who are carrying on the tradition of quality Show Choirs at Mundelein High School with their own brand of song and dance. During their first year of competition, Mundelein Lights earned the 2002/2003 Grand Champion award at the Manteno “Main Event,” as well as top honors for Best Female Choral Sound, Best Choreography, and Best Female Soloist. Throughout the year, both groups represent their school and community as musical ambassadors of civic pride and good will. Both groups are accompanied by the highly regarded and award wining Sound Combo and Sound Crew. The Mundelein Sound, Sound Combo and Sound Crew were named Grand Champions at Davenport (IA) North High School in 2001, 2002; in Manteno (IL) High School in 2002, 2003; and Southmont (IN) High School in 1998. Numerous other awards include Best Vocal Sound, Best Choreography, Best Instrumental Ensemble and Best Stage Crew at Show Choir contests in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan and Wisconsin.

The Mundelein Sound and Lights Show Choirs have been requested to perform and compete in the Show Choir Nationals, which will be held in Nashville, TN, next March. For the Mundelein Sound, this will be their second consecutive invitation to this National Competition. For Mundelein Lights, this is their first appearance. Last year, Mundelein Sound was awarded first runner-up at this prestigious competition, which is limited to only 16 Show Choirs from across the country and is by invitation only.
