| Metalsmithing 1 is an introduction to several different metals (copper, brass, nu-gold, sterling). Students will be taught to design and construct functional jewelry and purely aesthetic metal art pieces using several different metalworking techniques. Emphasis is on wire manipulations, piercing, and finishing metal surfaces. There will also be a limited introduction to torch use in fusing beads on wire and beginning soldering techniques. Students will be charged additional fees if they opt to work with sterling silver. |

They will be exposed to the history of photography and appreciation through selected chapter readings, videos, field trips, and class discussions.
