GENERAL PHYSICAL EDUCATION COURSES
1. Freshmen (class of 2012) will be assigned one term of P.E. Level 1 and one term of Health, or P.E. Level 1 and 1 P.E. elective. Freshmen who take Health their freshman year will need 3.5 credits of Wellness not including Safety Education. Freshmen who do not take Health will be assigned Health their sophomore year and will need 4.0 credits of Wellness not including Safety Education to graduate. Freshmen may take any PE course including a Level, Pe Varsity, or Dance as an elective.

4. Students will be assigned the appropriate amount of Physical Education that is required unless they wish to apply for a Physical Education Waiver due to one of the following reasons:
A. Medical: Requires a doctor's statement which includes limitations and specific dates covering the waiver. Students who waiver from P.E. and are in a class for less than 25% of the term will receive a "W" (waiver) credit. They are not eligible for a grade that counts towards GPA. Students who waiver for the first part of the term and return for more than 25% of the class will receive a letter grade and credit toward their GPA.
B. Sport: Junior and Senior students in sports may waive physical education only during the season in which they participate. Students who drop from the sport or elect not to participate, unless for medical reasons, will be required to make up the Physical Education class. The regular course change policy will be in effect for all requests. Students who elect this plan would receive a “W” (waiver) credit and would not count toward GPA.
Each request for a waiver will be handled individually through the guidance counselor with appropriate administrative approval. Forms can be obtained through the Guidance Office.
5. A Physical Education grade is used in determining an athlete's weekly and term eligibility status for participation. Also, students who receive a "D" or "F" in a P.E. class will not be considered on the "A" or "B" honor roll.
6. Students will be expected to have a uniform and a P.E.lock which can be purchased form the Spirit Store at the high school for a reasonable cost.
7. All Wellness course are considered academic for GPA, class rank, and honor roll.
