Course Information:

SAFETY/DRIVER EDUCATION
Grade: 10-12 Prerequisite: Sophomore standing
Homework: Approximately 30-40 minutes per night

Academic for GPA, class rank, and honor roll. The 3-phased, term-length course consists of knowledge in driving techniques, the philosophy of safety and collision prevention, and practical application of BTW skills. The mental, social, and physical tasks of the IPDE process are stressed with emphasis on the mental and social tasks. Each student will receive a minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction, 12 hours of simulation instruction, 6 hours of observation, and 3 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction to qualify for the Cooperative Driver Testing Program certificate. Students are required to pass 4 courses the previous two terms prior to taking Driver Education. Students will be scheduled during their Sophomore year with the older students scheduled first. Seniors and Juniors have priority in scheduling. Due to scheduling limitations, students are not guaranteed enrollment in the program.
