| ENGINEERING GRAPHICS |
| Open To: Grades 9-12 |
Prerequisite: None |
| Length: 1 term |
Credits: 0.5 |
Engineering Graphics will introduce the student to basic drafting skills, however, these skills will be employed via CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) rather than traditional T-square and rulers. The students will utilize visualization skills from actual working drawings and materials provided by the instructor. This course will strengthen Math, Science, and Language Arts concepts while centering around design, technical skills, and employment opportunities. |
| INTRODUCTION TO INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY |
| Open To: Grades 9-12 |
Prerequisite: None |
| Length: 1 term |
Credits: 0.5 |
This course will provide students with an overall scope and sequence of materials, processes, systems, and technology used in modern residential construction. Blueprint reading, estimating, site layout, rough framing, wiring, and plumbing will be covered with a text and aspects of each performed through hands on application. In addition, each student will construct a scaled-down model of a house which he or she will have to take with them at the conclusion of the course. This is an introductory course with no previous experience needed. Such exposure will strengthen math, science, and language arts concepts. |
| PRODUCTION ANIMATION |
| Open To: Grades 10-12 |
Prerequisite: None |
| Length: 1 term |
Credits: 0.5 |
This course is designed for the more experienced CAD designer. Students are introduced to the basic principles of modeling and design application with a variety of computer exercises for each lesson. This course allows students to grow from their previous CAD course by transforming their ideas into motion. Animation and rendering allows the students to take full advantage in their CAD workstation. |
| ORIENTATION TO BUILDING TRADES |
| Open To: Grades 10-12 |
Prerequisite: Engineering Graphics and Intro. to Indutrial Technology |
| Length: 2 terms |
Credits: 1.0 |
This course will explore architectural design, blueprints and detailed construction drawings. Students will execute these drawings into full-scale projects. Safety will be stressed, as students will be using hand tools and power hand tools to complete projects. This course will prepare students for future experience in college, technology, or related careers. This class will be team taught by two teachers in the industrial technology department – one teacher will focus on CAD (Computer Aided Drawing) instruction, the other teacher will focus on building construction. |
