| Gates Millennium Scholars |
The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) initiative has nomination forms for educators and counselors who is familiar with nominees’ leadership and community service. Forms are available at www.gmsp.org. Criteria: are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander or Hispanic American; are a legal citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States; have attained a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or earned a GED; will be enrolling for the first-time at a US accredited college or university as full-time, degree-seeking first year student in the Fall of 2009; have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities; meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria; have all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information Form, Nominator Form, and Recommender Form) completed and submitted by the deadline. |

| Future Educators Scholarship |
New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development is offering a Future Educators Scholarship. Merit and need-based scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $15,000 annually to selected students who are offered admission to one of the teacher education curricula that lead to certification at the early childhood, childhood, or secondary level. |

- Applicant must participate in a Making College & Career Count presentation (MHS will have one on April 14, 2008) during the 2007-2008 school year.
- Application must be submitted after the date of the high school’s Making College & Career Count presentation.
- Applicant must be enrolled in either a public, private, charter, magnet or parochial school, as a high school senior.
- Applicant must possess a cumulative G.P.A. of at least a “B” or higher at the time of application.
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Applicant must have plans to enroll in some type of formal education or training program following high school (i.e. college, technical school, vocational school, formal career training program).

The Psi Upsilon Scholarship Grant Program awards a total of $2,500 to four incoming male freshmen attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who exhibit the highest moral, intellectual, and social excellence. $1,000 goes to the top winner and $500 to the other three winners.
