Gates Millennium Scholars

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) initiative has nomination forms for educators and counselors who is familiar with nominees’ leadership and community service. Forms are available at www.gmsp.org. Criteria: are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander or Hispanic American; are a legal citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States; have attained a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or earned a GED; will be enrolling for the first-time at a US accredited college or university as full-time, degree-seeking first year student in the Fall of 2009; have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities; meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria; have all three required forms (Nominee Personal Information Form, Nominator Form, and Recommender Form) completed and submitted by the deadline.

Applications must be submitted by January 12, 2009 at 11:59 pm EST or the paper application postmarked on or before January 12, 2009.
Future Educators Scholarship New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development is offering a Future Educators Scholarship. Merit and need-based scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $15,000 annually to selected students who are offered admission to one of the teacher education curricula that lead to certification at the early childhood, childhood, or secondary level.  
Danforth Scholarship Washington University in St. Louis is offering a Danforth Scholarship. Scholars may receive full or partial-tuition scholarships. Candidates will embody maturity, strong moral character, selflessness, and commitment to the community; as well as those who have exhibited a capacity for service, leadership and academic excellence.  
Wendy's High School Heisman award Students can apply for the Wendy's High School Heisman award. Eligibility for application is limited exclusively to men and women entering their senior year who have a "B" grade average and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport. Online applications are available at www.WendysHeisman.com. Completed applications are due by October 1st, no later than 5:00pm CST.

Any student with a 2.8 or higher GPA, who has demonstrated leadership inside or outside the school, has been involved with community service, and who is not related to any employees of Comcast or its affiliates should come up to the CCRC and nominate themselves for this scholarship.  One senior in Mundelein High School will be chosen for this award.

Making College Count "Winning Characteristics" Scholarship
  • Applicant must participate in a Making College & Career Count presentation (MHS will have one on April 14, 2008) during the 2007-2008 school year.
  • Application must be submitted after the date of the high school’s Making College & Career Count presentation.
  • Applicant must be enrolled in either a public, private, charter, magnet or parochial school, as a high school senior.
  • Applicant must possess a cumulative G.P.A. of at least a “B” or higher at the time of application.
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Applicant must have plans to enroll in some type of formal education or training program following high school (i.e. college, technical school, vocational school, formal career training program).

University of Illinois Psi Upsilon Fraternity Scholarship

The Psi Upsilon Scholarship Grant Program awards a total of $2,500 to four incoming male freshmen attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who exhibit the highest moral, intellectual, and social excellence. $1,000 goes to the top winner and $500 to the other three winners.
