SADD

Sponsor: Mr. Giannamore    fgiann@mhs.k12.il.us

What is SADD?
SADD is a school-based organization who is dedicated to addressing the issues of alcohol and other drugs, impaired driving, and other destructive decisions and killers of teenagers. Their mission is to provide the students with the best tools to deal with the issues that they’re facing today. They promote a "no use" message to encourage the students not to take part in activities that can result in destructive consequences.

What does SADD do?
SADD participates in many activities including: Peer Interaction Conference, Highway pick ups, Red Ribbon Week decorations (ribbons and other gifts to students), holiday letters, Pre-Prom Assembly, graduation letters, and display windows for the holidays. They also just started to go to middle school health classes to talk about high school to the 7th and 8th graders. They help with the winter canned food drive and go to other middle schools to help out with the DARE programs.
The major event of the year is when the members of SADD attend a Peer Interaction conference at CLC. The students focus on developing the good attitudes needed when faced with alcohol and other drugs, making healthy decisions, and having safe relationships. At the conference, a combination of speakers and current event information provide the students with helpful information that they would be able to bring back to their schools.

This organization is open to everyone, and we encourage everyone to come participate in our activities.
