Mock Trial Team

Click for a larger versionMarch 2007: The MHS mock trial team placed second at the state mock trial competition held in Springfield, IL March 2nd and 3rd. This is the first time in school history the mock trial team has placed this high.

Students prepared a due process civil law suit to compete against teams state wide. Fifty teams overall competed in the state competition. Kevin Olszewski, Matt Parrssinen, and Yadov Gowda received outstanding witness and attorney awards.

Other team members include: Mallory Lemme, Anthony Marin, Katie Bernardi, Kyle Janosch, Mike Janosch, Nate Cantu, Adam Sawvell, Kevin Holum, Juan Vazquez, Sean Black, and Janyce Guzman. The mock trial team is coached by Stacey Gorman and Nicole Malham.

About the Mock Trial Team:
Members learn how to prepare a civil or criminal case for trial. Students compete with other schools in January and February. In March, the team travels to Springfield for State Mock Trial Competition.

Students meet Thursdays once a week from October through December, then 3-4 times weekly from January through early March.

Attorneys (real ones) help coach the team.

Open to everyone.
