From SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2008:
The Mustangs opened their season with a trip to the annual Evanston Tournament. Six of the top ten teams in the state attended the twenty-six team tournament. For the first time ever the Mustangs walked away with two victories. The Mustangs lost a tight match to perennial powerhouse Palatine by one board. Stay tuned for a great season. There is still room for new players. We practice every Tuesday after school in the library.

About the Chess Club:

The MHS Chess Club is open to all students. It meets in the Media Center on Tuesdays after school from August through February.

All students are welcome to come and play chess, learn how to play chess, improve their game, or just watch.

As part of the Chess Club, we field a competitive team that plays in the North Suburban Chess League. The league season runs from October through February. Here individual chess matches become a team sport. Eight players compete in each match. Other schools in our league are Glenbrook North and South, Stevenson, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Waukegan and Deerfield.
